SerNet GmbH looks back on a successful participation at this year's storage2day in Frankfurt, the Heise conference for storage networks and data management. On 26 and 27 September, the team provided in-depth insights into the practice and development of Samba, SAMBA+ and SMB. Volker Lendecke and Ralph Böhme from SerNet's Samba Team as well as Alina Schnur and Dr. Johannes Loxen from Samba Sales had all kinds of information from the areas of clustering, active directory and identity management in store.
The final presentation of storage2day was given by Samba "veteran" Volker Lendecke. In front of a full auditorium, he spoke about the integration of SMB for Linux clients. He highlighted the challenges and solution approaches in mixed IT environments in which both Windows and Linux clients play a role. The SMB3 Unix Extensions he presented offer interesting approaches for giving Linux clients full SMB coverage, especially when an Active Directory is already in place.
SerNet GmbH would like to thank iX-Magazin/heise and dpunkt.verlag for the first-class organisation of storage2day 2023. Special thanks go to René Schönfeldt from dpunkt.verlag and Tarik El-Badaoui from iX-Magazin as well as to all visitors and partners in the exhibition area, with whom our team was able to exchange ideas about Samba, project ideas and future cooperations. We were especially pleased to be co-sponsors of the conference with our long-standing partners NetApp, Nasuni and Pure Storage.
