SerNet adapted its SAMBA+ subscriptions. The OpenSource company tries to incorporate feedback collected during the last weeks into the new concept: With the change from EnterpriseSAMBA to SAMBA+ at the end of September SerNet introduced a subscription model. Since then SerNet’s packages are available at the SAMBA+ shop as paid subscriptions.
SerNet CEO Johannes Loxen: "We listened carefully to our clients, Samba users and also the international Samba team after the switch to SAMBA +" The lessons learned were carefully considered and now improve the subscriptions. Most important key figures of the revised model are:
- Prices: The altered prices for one, two and three year subscriptions are 250, 400 and 550 euros (each net).
- Number of servers per subscription: up to 5
- Support: With a purchase of 10 or more subscriptions at once, SerNet grants a free quota for support amounting to 25 percent of the subscription fee.
"With these changes, we reach out to smaller companies, institutions or non-profit organizations," says Loxen. "One subscription and five servers brings you a long way." Large customers, in turn, requiring a wide range of subscriptions could fall back on the free support quota for SerNet’s Samba support.
Loxen points out one more positive side aspect of the SAMBA+ switch: "We're learning quite a lot about where our packages are being used." The bandwidth of users impressive. "The french municipality, the global operating aid, the german supermarket chain and the international automotive group - they've all got SAMBA+ in common."
