SerNet GmbH is once again reaffirming its commitment to education and science. As a sponsor of the newly created Forum Wissen Award, SerNet financed the production of an exclusive bronze sculpture designed especially for this prize by sculptor Ulrich Mekiska. The award itself was established by the Förderkreis Forum Wissen e. V. on the occasion of the 225th anniversary of the death of Göttingen scientist Georg-Christoph Lichtenberg. It honors people who contribute to the communication of scientific content through their outstanding work.
The prize is endowed with 5,000 euros. The additional Lichtenberg sculpture awarded symbolizes excellent knowledge transfer and the idea of making knowledge and research tangible for many people. The first Forum Wissen Award goes to Prof. Dr. Albrecht Beutelspacher, founder of the Mathematikum in Gießen, the world's first hands-on mathematics museum. For decades, his work has inspired people of all ages, making a valuable contribution to making knowledge accessible and tangible. The public award ceremony will take place on November 14, 2024 at 6 p.m. at Forum Wissen in Göttingen.
“As a company, we also see it as our social responsibility to promote science and knowledge transfer and to enable a vibrant, regional scientific community,” explains Dr. Johannes Loxen, who is not only the founder and managing director of SerNet GmbH, but also a physicist, alumnus of the University of Göttingen and co-initiator of the award: Ernst Puschmann
